Ski training and turbulence

Posted on 06. February 2010 14:45 - 24 comments

Finally out of the hotel and training with the rest of the team in Nakiska. The Canadians also showed up yesterday. Olympics are huge for all of us, but I can’t imagine what it must be like having Olympics at home. Some of these guys are from Whistler, so the Olympics are held pretty much in their backyard. That’s gotta be special. Training was good. We haven’t received out clothing for the Olympics yet, so notice have we have taped over the logos of our sponsors. Canmore, were there is Cross-Country world-Cup this weekend is right in the area and we heard rumors of some journalists around, so can’t take any chances. Another thing that I think is pretty funny is this article at Nettavisen:

http://www.nettavisen.no/sport/vinter/article2824151.ece

. We read in the newspapers about the Swedish cross-country being traumatized after their horrible flight coming over here. We were on the same flight. Yes there was turbulence, but the biggest inconvenience was that that the flight crew couldn’t go around serving food and drinks. Bumpy, sure, but perfectly safe. Kjetil did and interview about this and cant have been very diplomatic, cause the Headliner says “The Swedish are chickens”

Well, that's an excuse if the results of the olympics aren't that great "I was still traumatized from the flight!"
But diplomacy doesn't seem to be one of Kjetil's fortes^^

I'm giong to watch:
ALpine skiing
Biathlon (always good for the Germans^^)
Figure skating (maybe)
Border Cross
Freestyle skiing
shorttrack (that's always funny. I remember last olympics an absolute nobody won because all the others had crashed^^)

Unfortunately most of this stuff airs between 2 and 4 am, so I'll probably end up sleeping during the day and watching TV at night XD

Great to hear that you`re feeling better and are out in the slopes again.
Saw you on the sports news tonight, and I really liked your new home-made self-motivating logos on the jacket:-) And it`s true; AXL ER RÅ!

I have a good feeling about the Olympics, hope you feel it too:-)

@bergfex

Btw: Axl, it's a pity, that I won't see your colorful jacket... :(
But you must promise me, that the new (Olympic) clothes will be so colorful like these you use during the World Cup starts.
Greets! :*

oh, one more thing about the story: indeed, if that yound Swede is afraid of flying, that must have been a trauma to be on a flight with turbulences. So as funny as the story is, of two versions of one event, I am a little sorry for her, as she indeed must have been afraid;-)

anyway, funny episode;-)

@;p) have a fun party! watch the stockings!

@Switzerland & CO: the Maverick dialogue rocks!;-)

@Bergfex: I cannot decide! but maybe:
1) alpine skiing (so obvious!)
2)hockey, with team Canada playing, and Finland (to see Longstocking's reactions during the match)
3) speed skating or 50 km cross-country (hardcore! superheroes) or biathlon, the team event

Re story: hilarious!!!

Re pic: I am kinda starting to see the "olympic" pattern here, with the pics: parts of the outfits. And they appear gradually: 1) helmet, 2) helmet + jacket, 3)...(?) (oh, you know what I think!)

I am wondering whether I should start feeling tempted...;-)

Nakiska, Nakiska, I so adore this name, have fun!

Wish you all a nice and funny day resp. evening. Well, I'm going out to a carnival party (we call it Fasching here in our region). I'm well dressed up as *Pippi Longstocking* with nice braids, freckels, two-coloured and different long stockings. Thought that looks the part... ;p) "I gotta feeling, that tonight's gonna be a good night", I trust! ;p)) Helau and Alaaf!

Hope you viking guys have nice conditions for a perfect training day! Aksel is fit again, very upsetting.

Ha ha, no, that's not very diplomatic! Kjetil, Kjetil lol
Ok, I don't know how I were on this flight, perhaps a chicken too ;-) However, the vickings rock!!!

Wow, the non-serving of food/drinks really must have sucked. I think that's the best part of long distance flights (I don't even care that the food isn't particularly good). You can just sit there and watch movies and you're constantly being served food and snacks and drinks (even alcohol- how awesome is that?). When I flew from Japan over to Europe the 11 hrs were way too short, I even forced myself not to sleep because there were so many movies I desperately wanted to see and I didn't want to miss the ice cream (like I did on the flight to Japan- dude, that really pissed me off).

06. Feb 17:37 - Switzerland said:
PS
Oder wie sagt man doch so schön "ich habe keine Angst vor dem Fliegen, nur dass er NICHT mehr fliegt... "

Sorry to all, which have fear on flying, it must be really hard and absolutely not funny!

Aksel/Kjetil, be careful with your statements, the last thing we want now is a grumpy sensitive-swed'! lol

Ha ha, funny article "The Swedish Chickens"...! I guess a man who are so crazy ;-) to start at the Kitzbühel-Downhill can not to make afraid about crazy turbulenc on a flight haha!

Nice to hear you are now start your training and the Jet-Lag is overcome. Hope you feeling really better now!

Really pretty funny! :-) two different stories, but just one *smooth* flight! Yes guys, you really rock! But if I dare a little bit (in good way :-)) even if you had been afraid (maybe you were, hehe... just kidding :-)) you wouldn't have admited, as usually men does :-) but as far as I'm concerned you Aksel have already conviced me that you are the real man! So keep on doing good work with trainings and stay fearless and courageous till (and during) races!

@twitter: oh yes, there's nothing more pleasant thing than getting up refreshed&filled up with energy...and mornings can be just more than perfect if you get a delicious breakfast from delicious person...oops! hehe... beloved person! :-)

Enjoy your "workday"! :-)

Haha, guess, there's no love lost between you guys and the Swedish. Sweet pic, though, that goes with the article. :-)
