Resting up

Posted on 04. February 2010 15:54 - 25 comments

Ever since I got sick around Christmas I have not been feeling 100%. I’m ok, but I’ve still felt like I hadn’t been able to shake it all. Now at Olympics we have a doctor with us, and I was right. My throat, lungs++ were still a little irritated, so the doc commanded rest. Like I said when this started, I’m getting the Lasse Kjus syndrome. But that syndrome also includes a lot of medals at big championships… Sure hope that part works out!!! Now I have been in bed again for two days with some light exercise twice a day, and I do feel much better. One more day of this boring program then I’m ready to get up on the mountain in Nakiska and rip with the rest of the crew. From what I hear conditions are good, so looking forward to it!

I'm sure you will never lose your sense of humour.
K. A. Aamodt won his gold despite knee injury. You remember it.
Take care of yourself.

Oh, I`m sorry to hear that. However, when staying in bed, you can do some mental training. The more you use your brain in the right direction, the more you will enhance your ability to focus and think sharply.

Here it goes:
If there are 3 apples and you take away 2, how many do you have? Answer: You have two, because you took away two.
The next one:
How many animals of each sex did Moses take on the ark? Answer: None, you are thinking on Noah, not Moses.
Okay, no we are starting:
How many minutes is it before 12 noon, if 44 minutes ago it was three times as many minutes past 9 am? Hmm, that was a better one, hehe :)
And last one:
Joe has three times as many as Tom, and Tom has four times as
many as Mary. Altogether they have 153. How many has each? The best one :)

Take care!

I surely hope the "Lasse-Kjus-syndrome" will not prevent you from feeling fit for fight, and that it will give you all the medals you can get during the Olympics ;-)

Take care and enjoy!

This Lasse Kjus syndrome doesn't sound that bad. If it means you will rock the olympics then this is a small price to pay:) I hope these few days of rest will really make you feel 100% good again. I am sending you my best wishes and take care of yourself!

ooh, adult man and the doctors, racing for a month not seeing the doc, dude! It will be all fine soon, get well quickly and have fun!

I do not think the analysis of the current situation would be of much help, in this case. It's better to adopt the plans and only think ahead. "I will think about it tomorrow" is basically a good atttude in some cases, and I think it's better to judge some things with some distance, if we can see the bigger picture a little later. Certainly, the story shows, some rest before the Secret Event is not so bad after all (2 golds of Simon "Harry Potter" Amman in SLC!) It is usually also advised to rest and regenerate before the big event, take the mind off things and "switch off" from it a bit. I guess it works not only for sports (otherwise I would not post here so much, while taking my mind off my work things;-)

@everyone: watch this vid if you have around 16 mins of free time, it's brilliant. made my day.

That's not what I expected to hear... man! Well, now you should have a little time for the translation... ;p) But I think, you don't really feel like it. Ok Aksel, then see how you manage that situation sensibly. Come back as the 'old' strength athlete, as the "Olympische Hoffnung" ;p). I don't know why, I think nobody knows why you are so fragile in health the last month. Do you think about it?

Glad you feel better!
Hopefully you can get some nice training, so you'll do the Olympics at 120% ^^
And if the Lasse Kjus syndrome really works, I don't see any problem with being a little sick.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can start the olympics 100% fit!!!
