Real Madrid - Audi

Posted on 26. October 2009 20:25 - 93 comments

Audi is the main sponsor of the Alpine Ski World Cup plus I have a personal relationship with them. They also sponsor Real Madrid. So today when they were giving the cars to the Real Madrid players they made a show where skiing meets football. Indoor skiing in Madrid and Audi quattro’s driving around in the snow. I skied a short course down to where the staff from Real Madrid where gathered and handed over a backpack with the keys to the cars. Great event and very professionally done. The players were nice and easy to hang out with and Raul(the captain) gave me an original jersey that they signed. I think one of coolest things about being an athlete besides the skiing, is that you get to experience stuff like this...

@Tony: No, the stripper name one was the high-on-sugar question. The lingerie question was the my-coworker-is-crazy question. (it was adapted from his original questions, as anyone who reads my blog can tell.)

@Katie: Glad to hear that. And as for where they come from, I have a highly random brain. haha

Hm, just came to my mind that enjoyful is most probably not an existing word (although we could create it) ... should have written enjoyable.

@ Longstockings: are you sure you haven't had too much candy? How do you always come up with these crazy questions? ;-)
But you definitely managed to make my day a little bit more enjoyful ... thanks for that! :-)

Okay, here it goes...
1) Name something there's three of. (like three holy men. or three cups of coffee, which is what it takes to get Longstockings resemble a normal human being in the morning.)
2) What's the weirdest thing you've ever had in your pocket/handbag/backbag/manbag? (there's nothing gay about manbags! Well, there is, but I was trying to be polite.)
3) What's your favourite piece of lingerie? (men's or women's, on you or someone else of the same or opposite sex. Feel free to answer all possible variations.)
4) Which fictional character would you like to swap lives with for a day?

And we all know what the questions are like when we're high on sugar in here...

@Stockings: in fact, I do talk about sports a lot, not only skiing. it's a universal start-up topic. (and by sport I do NOT mean: Posh Spice or Lewis Hamilton's girlfriend or Ashle Cole's wife;-)), with rare exceptions like today.

Unfortunately I am the biggest sports fan in my surroundings or at least - the most informed one (to be unmodestly honest). even my tennis buddy, who is a sports person, does not follow sports besides football (and olympics, but they happen rarely), so all I can discuss with him is football.

recently I am looking for someone who would like to discuss with me the meeting of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield on Oprah show. I am left all alone with this thing and there are so many aspects to discuss! (I am not such an Oprah fan, to be honest, with all respect for her work, but that meeting was unusual in a weird way, Mike Tyson cried).

oh, I was supposed to be busy today. see you!

28. Oct 11:18 - Milla said:
@ Longstockings: I'm going to be really gross and tell you why they show up in the morning. It's because urine is more concentrated in the morning, so when the lab analyse the samples they will get more accurate results than with urine collected later in the day. I can't belive we are actually talking about pee!! It has come to this! ;-)

I like head scans. Every now and then I like to get confirmation that my brain is still up there where it should.

Question for Aksel: why does the anti-doping agency always show up in the morning? Have you ever asked them? Sounds like they want you to hate them...

28. Oct 10:54 - A. said:
@Sirius: I know, I know, there was not fight, I was just joking ;-)

I really thought I would not post today, I am very busy, but I just couldn't not share the events of the morning with you -I have a quiz:

Q:when exactly do you know you probably read too much about skiing lately?

A's answer: when you go for the morning business meeting and you meet the guy from Switzerland. You want to start usual small talk, finding common topics to discuss (aside from the business talk), you know, to have some connection etc and you happen to mention that Switzerland is a great country for skiing. . You mention the great performance of the Swiss guys in WC opening last weekend and the guy says: uhmmm and shakes his shoulders. Than you know you've probably should have started with talk about Swiss banking system instead. ;-)

28. Oct 08:51 - Tony said:
Oh cool, head scanning... It sounds like you use your time to recover very well. What was the scanning for? Was it to check if your mind is wandering while you are injured? As I have said before, periods of injury can be destructive if you allow the mind to wander; alternatively, it can be seen as an opportunity to develop skills that might ultimately lead to even better performances. I am quite sure that you have chosen the last one :)

Have a nice day!

@ A, sweetie, you did not miss anything at all, there was no cat fight and things are far from being fierce. We are all highly intelligent women (and men) who wear our high heels tall and proud (for men, it would be wearing their spandex tight and proud) and gathered here together by a common interest (lap dancing.. just joking....i meant skiing/Aksel) and are more than capable of carrying out constructive discussions without taking out the claws. @Aksel: The correct question regarding the head scan is "did they find anything?" :D

No kidding, back when I was diagnosed with migraine, they wanted to do a MRI just to be sure it wasn't anything else. The verdict on the images was the usual mumbo jumbo doctor-talk, so I ask what it is in normal people language. "There's nothing." Gee, thanks, I was kind of hoping there's *something* inside my head, but that does explain the dizzy feeling I get when it's windy and the air just blows through... ;)

How´s your leg? Hope much better now?

I´m off now until sunday. Have to go to a trainingscamp with a part of my company. It will be really boring but i´ll get extramoney for it and that´s the only good aspect in it. So to all: don´t do things i wont do either :-)) LOL And enjoy yourselves!!!! KISS

My 5 cents: we never see the bigger picture. for sure aksel know, what he does. besides the responsibilities you have to your sponsors there is as huge difference between skiing down a little slope indoor and skiing under racing conditions an those slopes there. the first option probably doesn't put that much pressure on the leg and everything. ;)
so, calm down.

@boo: Re: carbon footprint and environmental issues. Interesting topic, would love to discuss that in its own blog entry (see, Aksel?!? I'm trying to stay on topic AND I'm providing you ideas what to write about! I'm so sweet I shouldn't be allowed near diabetics.). I'd guess the skiers in general have slightly conflicting views on this as on one hand, due to the world cup schedule and everything, they have to fly and travel and go to places all over, but on the other, they have first-hand evidence of there being warmer temperatures, less snow and more difficulties finding good ski conditions.

And just in case you were wondering, I only like teams with red jersey. International hockey games and american football excluded.

27. Oct 12:01 - Sirius said:
@ pipi (who i m sure it's not Longstockings as i didn't have vodka with my vitamins tonight)... totally understand albeit not totally agreed with your point of view. None of us live in a vacuum - no matter how talented we are, we always need the assistance of others to help us in achieving our dreams. Look at all the successfully and great man in history, none of them achieved success alone. In Aksel's case (and any athlete's case), the training from good coaches and the financial support of dedicated sponsors are very important. I m in the business world, and from a business perspective, why would I spend $$$ on you if you won't advertise for my company? It's simple as that.

Pipi sweetie, why don't you try to see it from the other angle. Askel had a not so content race over the weekend due to an injured knee. He needs all the time he has until the next race to recovery and get back to his optimal level. Yet he has to make time to attend to his other commitments as an athlete in the meantime, despite having an injury.

He is just doing his job, and yes, he is enjoying himself but that just means he is enjoying his job.

27. Oct 11:51 - Milla said:
@Pipi: I agree with Longstockings. That was completely uncalled for. As an athlete Aksel also has responsibilities and obligations to his sponsors. The fact that he has fun while doing it is great!!

27. Oct 11:32 - Longstockings said:
@pipi: I don't think that was really called for. Certainly Aksel knows how much his leg can take. The work of a pro athlete is, after all, more than just the actual sports performance.

I'd write more, but a) that'd be ranting, b) I'm starving, and c) I have to go check my makeup before flirting with the cute DeliGuy.

Sorry, but these actions are really not understandable for me. There arises the important question: Are u still an athlete with uncompromising will to win or do you prefer to be an 'advertising boy', who loves to SMILE in every camera, takes along every entertaining bargain and merely TALKs about winning? Oh, maybe you've changed your job and I haven't noticed.

Hey come on, I want to see you FIGHT in the next races! Otherwise "beat it"! I don't love to see moderateness!

Seriously, what a wonderful opportunity! So exciting! You must have been thrilled.
A question: why do football clubs, when they give these promotional jerseys (are they jerseys in football? shirts? whatever.), slap on the number 1? Personally, I think 3 would be much nicer. Or 17. Is it like a rule or something? 'Cause don't the goalie usually play with no. 1?

@Sirius: no, you had just vodka.

ok, I regrouped myself after seeing legendary Raul, cycled a bit (it makes me calm) and I am able to make a constructive comment. not screaming Iker Casillas' name (what a great goalkeeper he is!) this time.

It's seriously very very exciting adventure. To go to Madrid and meet the Real players. It's huge, actually. It's like a cherry on the top of the cake after all the hard work done everyday. And what a great story to the personal diary of the cool stories (if you keep one;-) !!!

@ Camilla: You have to be unbeatable in making pass words (always a combination of letters, signs and numbers)!

oh -referring to you writing some time ago that this year's summer is going to be boring (and we knew what happened, Monaco, Mt Ventoux etc) would you now say that the "winter started so-so"? ;-) (apart from the leg thing which is NOT a subject of a joke here)

Obvious things cannot be denied (even for a Barcelona fan ;-): meeting Real Madrid: legen-wait for it-dary. Raul. oh. Looking forward to more pics!!!

Two words: IKER CASILLAS ;-)
