Physio

olympic prep from aksel svindal on Vimeo.

Skiing can be very hard on your body. So after a rough day on the mountain it's good to go see the physio and get everything lined up again. I remember I thought it was very uncomfortable at first, but once you get used to it and you know it's good for you it feels good. Take a look at the video and see what you think. Turn up the sound...

But the poor guys have to remember that the only way to get back to Sweden is flying. *hehe* (I know it's mean, but I can't help it)

Re Rabbits: As long as I haven't touched the poor animal before, I don't have any doubts to eat it. The one ear rabbit is still alive and enjoys his life when everyone else is ready for the pot! :-D

Personally I think that bringing a psychologist is not bad.
They can mentally prepare the athletes for the races. If you're not on top mentally, your body can be as fit as it can be without getting good results.

The Twitter thing:

It's about the Swedes saying that only losers need psychologists (the Norwegian team takes a couple of psychologists over to Vancouver which led to some Swedish athletes making that loser-statement) and then Aksel reminds of the before mentioned trauma-drama the Swedish cross country skiers made out of that flight with the turbulences and says that it's

ANd I can't eat rabbit either. My uncle picked my up fom school once and there was a naked (as in without fur) rabbit in the back seat he wanted to cook that evening. And I had to sit next to the poor dead rabbit for the whole f*cking drive. Well, I guess that explains why I don't eat it^^

Right now I would give much to have a Canadian friend who could record it for me. But I had to find out that I only know people in the US. Why don't I know a Canadian? The countries not exactly little, so there are many people I could get to know, right?

And now I'm off watching the trailer. I didn't even bother trying because I had assumed that it wouldn't work anyway.

08. Feb 20:04 - A. said:
please, someone translate the twitter thing, I do not believe in online translators anymore LOL Do I get it well that the Swedish people have a psychologist to help them after the trauma of The Flight During Which One Of The Vikings Slept? oh my!!!

About Canadian TV and Miracle Body - well, they are nice enough, so I am able to see the trailer even being outside of Canada, so maybe they do have online version of it?

Re Rabbits Stories: LOL rabbit with only one ear? Muscular Maverick with DEEP rabbit-boy voice? awesome, guys!

(personally, I cannot imagine eating a rabbit. Ok, eating maybe, if I don't know what I am eating, because I basically like everything. Ok, I would never ever eat a snake, I would be horrified by nightmares for the rest of my life, I even get shivers thinking about it. But preparing a rabbit to eat would be beyond my abilities, fur no fur, doesn't matter. I even have problems with preparing the chicken if the bones are still there!)

@Christin Pilates, Yoga and all integrated body workouts are really good for a healthy back. A marvelous german specialist of back pain therapy says, that the most back problems arise from too much muscle tension - mostly caused by emotional distress. A concentrative relaxation training could be a marval (e.g. Jacobsen, Hypnotherapy, mental training forms). The most important thing is, that you have to handle it by yourself in the long run. Okay in periods of tough pain, you have to consult a physiotherapist/or a MT who can help (initialy), but only with the maxim "help for self-help". Because the goal should be, to gain control on your body by yourself without tough pain periods and without assistance (well the physios and the docs surly won't hear such things, they are so essential in the modern western medicine and physiotherapy;-)). For me Yoga is one of the best, because I love its natural breathing, that really has such a relaxing effect in correspondence with the strengthening movements/asanas. It's an integrated workout and you get in emotional, mental and physical balance. But I know every person should find his or her own approach to the own body (and mind). All the best!

"So much magnificence" The tears well in my eyes when I hear this song. So much love in it! That gives you a kind of humility and you feel balanced and wholly somehow. Have made the experience several times in my yoga lessons during the relaxation. Just for relaxation! ;-)

And YAY for the Super Bowl, I'm really looking forward to it. Fortunately I'm having the day off tomorrow. So I'll grab a beer and some chocolate (perfect combination) and then hopefully it's going to be exciting.

And what I forgot to do during the last posts, but I'm impudent enough to bring it back up, is my Olympic favourites:

1) Cross-Country (Seriously! But more like the guys' races because those are just a lot more exciting than the girls' ones because of the tactics and stuff- and of course because they're guys)
2) Alpine Skiing
3) Boarder Cross/Short Track

And the one discipline I totally don't get and probably never will (no, not Curling):
Double Luge. Seriously, why would anyone ever do that? Like put on those (unlike in Alpine Skiing) totally unflattering spandex outfits, grab a mate, lie down on each other and slide down somewhere. WHY?

So I always nearly celebrate this 30 min. But it looks like you enjoyed it ;-)

Glad to hear that you're back in shape and ready for the big goal. Hope the rest of the team is also. Enjoy the last relaxing days before the excitement turns up.

I can do that sound with my neck without having someone pull my head, I just have to move my head in a certain way. Anyone accepting the challenge? :P

Well, the price for being able to do so is some pain every now and then since there's something wrong with my neck. But it's always a good way to impress people, even though it might be more of the ooh-that's-totally-abnormal-and-slightly-gross kind of impressive...

do you remember those ancient wooden toys one could demount and mount in different shapes? the sound your snapping bones and chondrals make somehow reminds me of those. but it appears as if you were enjoying yourself - thumbs up!

ouch... this sound gives me the creeps... which remembers me of school days when some of the teachers weren?t able to write on the blackboard without a ?shuddering sound? (of the chalk)... wuah... awful sound. so your tip to turn up the sound wasn?t that good ;-) hehe
you should have written ?turn DOWN the sound? ;-)

anyway, if you feel much better afterwards, it?s a good decision to do it. :-)

wish you all the best for the olympic games! go for it! =)

The sound is awful, especially the neck, but you feel so much better afterwards! Got 30 cm of snow tonight so now it's up in the northern norwegian mountains for some free riding and maybe get some good shots as well!

that's the most important thing when you're in that kind of sport :-) and it looks almost the same as Chiropractics as Manca said.. it helps me too ..by the way good luck at Olympics

how I can become the physio of a ski team?:)))

Oh, it is similar as chiropractic, isn't it? Since my back is often making me problems, I visit one of those from time to time. So I know it is not as unpleasant as it might sound:) It is actually the first thing ever that helps with my back so I hope it makes you feel good too. I wish you effective last days of training and get some good rest in between.

Great to hear that the training goes well and that you are ready to hit the podium, Aksel;-)
Wooohoooo..just a few days left, and then...ready set go:)
Really annoying that I wasnt able to watch "The Miracle Body" on SVT, but maybe they'll show it later. Both programs, hope so. Read the articles thu - wow - I'm amazed!
Ha tonnevis med moro, Aksel, hold deg frisk, spis godt, sov godt og la hvert sekund være balsam for sjelen. Dette kommer til å gå så bra!:)
