The article (oh, I saw that coming): "sitting under an umbrella, wearing gaudy palm-tree shorts, sipping a Corona." Well my dear, sounds a bit like a part of my imagined version (u remember the pipi bäh?) haha
?I?ve never been as good as I was then,...? (and never had more fear then after the crash!?)
"He was his old self" (oh, for how long more or less - do you really have that old substaintial self again?)

I'm expetant about the development...

@all Don't overstate dear apologists. But I must admit, is sth. interested in it!
@sven U can train your mind equal to your body - U have to know and to practice the right methods of mentaltraining for your personality construction and self-perception and its development to a stable self-assurance.

But most important thing: 1st DH Training today!

@ Aksel Please, explain me the rangs 4...........42, 43, 44, 46 (viking-cowboy-power!?)
I would comment:
a) the old stagers 1,2,3 in front with diverse material under their feet - good and experienced fighters - "speed machines")
b) vinkings and cowboys have had a combined speed training in Portillo - what have you truly done there?
c) the combination with 'surfing' pays! :>)
d) after all, better result than most of the tysk 'escargots' haha - you could be proud!

@Helga - no, only one training a day, as far as I know. There should be two more in two following days ;-)

Hey, how was your leg during the first downhill training? Have the fis liveticker on and saw the time. I hope that there is not to much pain left and you can go on training and racing this week. Ißll keep my fingers crossed!

If anyone is still working, like I am, and wants to have a nice interruption following the training, like I do, you can find a live ticker at fis website ;-) I don't particularly look at the times, it's the first training after all, I am mostly following the speed - 121 km/h with injured leg: no words;-)

I saw your link to the article on Twitter tonight, red this article and think he's very interesting.

Excellent and very "energetic "picture!
And your favorite palmtrees...;)

A very good story! I was just wondering about one sentence: "Svindal returned last year. His body was healed. His mind was not". Is that true? Did you win in Beaver Creek, even though you were not 100% mentally prepared? Your return is a legendary story, however!

@ Angie: Yes, the picture was great :)

That`s so true, LeSkA, he is really good on taking care of his fans.
I absolutely love this picture! The only thing that`s wrong with it is hat I`m not sitting under one of those palm-trees wearing a bikini, sun glases and a ton of sunscreen (because of typical sensitive nordic skin) with a Smirnof Ice in my hand, but there`s really no one else to blame but my self since I wasn`t there.

Article in NYT is a big thing and I like how it's written in this story-telling mode. and that's how THE Shorts made it to the press;-) my fav quote:

"Svindal had been at the beach for about 10 days and had the tan to prove it. He wore it like a disguise"
LOL ;-)

Excellent article!!!

This really shows how much pain, endurance and mindpower it takes to be a champion. It's something you can't teach or learn - either you're born with it or not.

Aksels new rise after his crash belongs to the legendary stories of alpin skiing. It's in the same class like Maier's Nagano crash-olympic gold story and a few others.

Cheers

I loved the article, and I love the Miami Vice shorts. Maybe I'm in the minority. Ha ha! I'm excited to see you skiing again too, but I'd rather know that you're 100% healthy and healed than see you have another setback. Get healthy, Aksel! It sounds like you have a lot of common sense and know when to hold back to heal and rest. The waiting must be the hardest part.

Impressive article. I love how honest you are - especially in your last blog entry. I can see how frustrating this all must feel right now, and I know it's easier said than done, but hang in there. Sure, we'd all love to see you race again, but it doesn't make sense to come back when you're not feeling 100% fit. (What you do is definitely way too dangerous for that. *g*) So don't rush anything, take good care of yourself, your leg and keep your spirits up. Come back when you're ready...we'll be here. :)
