Miracle Body on Swedish TV

Posted on 03. February 2010 04:33 - 73 comments

Some of you probably remember the blog post from September when the Japanese TV/science crew made a show with me called Miracle Body. The show played on Swedish TV last night. I haven’t seen any of the results, but from the feedback I got people thought it was pretty cool and they got some very interesting results. Can’t wait to check it out myself! Think it airs again this Saturday if you wanna check it out.

@Dear Watson: the Times Of Silence begin on Feb 4th, that is today so the hours of conspiracy shall begin soon. I am really curious of what shall we expect and what kind of events would be thrown at us to handle. If the situation becomes drastic I will be hidden in the Mighty Cupcakes' Queen Kitchen, if you know what I mean. Drinking non-alcoholic beverages (ready to drive those cars if we need to go for a roadtrip) and Atos, Portos and Aramis will be with me, together with Uncle Charlie, they all too support the Elfs' power. Staying tuned. Holmes. (Roger, why Roger, have I missed something or just simply did not get it?;-)

On the topic: thanks for the link to the Miracle Body in Swedish TV. Unfortunately I cannot watch it. maybe later it will be shown somewhere else. I am sure, we will have plenty to watch now as the Secret Event approaches the other websites should have plenty materials (of course limited to countries' teritorries), besides from the athletes' websites and blogs,Talk about the irony and logic here. LOL

@SaBine Oh yes, but not just a bit different... it's a ghastly translation! That could be the result, if I would try to translate it! ;p)

Here's a sample of that half google translation...

"Norwegens größtes Olympische Hoffnungen im alpinen, Aksel Lund Svindal hat sich in eine einzigartige Forschungs-Projekt beteiligt waren. I laboratoriet og under utforkjøring er det minste fysiske og mentale utslag blitt målt og kartlagt hos nordmannen. In dem Labor, und die Abfahrt ist das Mindeste, physische und psychische Wirkungen wurden vermessen und kartiert in den nördlichen Menschen..." Cute the last two words.

Come on Aksel, du "größtes Olympisches Hoffnungen [größte olympische Hoffnung]", "nördlicher Mensch" [nordischer/skandinavischer Mann/Skandinavier]", you can't expect us to put up with that! ;p)

@ Angie: You are right - the human body is a fascinating mystery. It`s amazing how everything works together; bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, vessels, vital organs and the human brain...

@ CamE: You are also right - gee, I agree with all of you today :) Aksel, we have always thought that you have a brain like no other, but now it`s documented which is good, though.

And, a great support to the Haiti-victims:

I can´t wait to watch the whole thing on SVT!!

I´m wondering what it might do to your ego hearing and reading about your astonishing abilities regarding mental and physical strength ;)))
I had a brain scan a few years back, and I still think I´m fab ;)))
I think it is excellent timing tho´!! Xtra confidence for the Olympics and a psychological advantage is going to get you on top of that podium!!

I can´t wait!!! *wishing I was there with the rest of the regulars "in here"* to see you race hahaha...
That would be quite an experience!! ;)) ..and I mean that in the nicest possible way! Muuahh ;-*

Btw, we allways knew you were SUPERMAN anyway, Aksel!! ;)

I am fascinated by science in general. Our body is such a freaky machine. I understand the biochemical and genetic process behind but hard to imagine that each cell knows exactly what it has to do-just incredible.
I am not sure if it is good to analyze everything but on the other hand you will not gain new knowledge if you dont do it.

Regarding 'Miracle Body' the television documentary shown on Swedish television SVT2. It was revealed that Aksel had high information processing, and that he only winked once during the race. This is the same as fighterpilot-recruits are tested for, and means that they must have a special three-dimensional vision to pass through. It should be noted that having this gift is quite rare and it's only given to some of us. There are only approx. 5% of Norway's population that has this brain and the ability to be fighterpilots, so Aksel would be a strong candidate to the Air Force. Maybe something to think about when to retire from the downhill ;) Hihi

Shit, is it really more than four months ago you introduced the Miracle body? The time runs so fast! However, I had to take a look back to the September posts, and damn! so smart we were at that time... How on earth were we able to make so many intellectual comments? Gee, we seemed to be more than average interested in this stuff, hehe :)

However, I`m still fascinated in this kind of research, seriously. @ Pipi, I agree that not all things have to be analyzed and are meant to be explained by scientists, but I support that part of our knowledge has to be evidence based. And, I`m still exciting about the results regarding muscle forces during skiing...

The journalists always write articles like this before the great event. Why? Why are they putting too much pressure on the racer? I don?t think it helps them.

@Switzerland that's a good on! Nearly half a year ago (maybe a bit later) also something like this happened at our country, there was a blackbeetle in the glass of red beet or pepper (not sure)! But "poor guy" already drown in juice of red beet or pepper in contarst to that forg.

Wow! Watched the trailer and it is awesome! I also love those slow mo stuff! It's really interesting to see how everything's moving. They had a super slow mo in last MotoGP's season. It was great.
Hopefully they will show it here pretty soon. Would be really interesting to see what came out of this. Things like that could really help to improve different parts. Just read an article in our local newspaper about new technologies to help athletes. Our university has a project on the bob of Andre Lange.
Did they tell you, Aksel, the results they found out in your case? Did it help you in any case?

Btw: Underwear pics are always more than welcomed! ;-)

03. Feb 13:07 - Milla said:
@Twitter: Well done!!!!

Ah yes.... The greenish underwear! How could I forget? You are too kind to post that photo again hun! ;-)

I saw the documentary, it was AWESOME! I especially liked the part where they had a camera installed inside your goggles and filmed you while you were racing. Dude, you blinked once?! In what, 2 minutes? (for the record I think I'd probably have my eyes closed the entire time! But that's just me!) And the brain scan part was really interesting! You seem to have some kind of super-hero-like brain function. Who knew, huh? (I kid, I kid;-))

I think I might have to see it again on Saturday. For purely scientific reasons of course :-)

A little story appropriate to lunchtime. This morning i have read the following:
A woman has bought a salad so in a bag. At home she's open the bag and inside was a livelier frog...!!!! It was a French Greenbach and nobody knows how he's coming to Switzerland in a salad bag. HAHAHA
So looks just your salat's before you eat :-)

@SaBine.Very interesting and unigue research project that Aksel has had the opportunuity to be the great participant. When Aksel raced the downhill course in great speed(as usual), he only blinked with his eyes ones!As soon as he crossed the finish line, he blinked normally. This shows that he qualities to gather information all the time.In this resarch they also exposed Aksel for the great stress by showing the accident in Beaver Creek and analyzing his reactions and how he managed to use different parts of his brain to defeat his fear.Aksel has the great capability to handle much information in short time. I am impressed by this uniqe guy!He is a Winner in many fields.

@Sofi What's the link of that article? Have to read it.

@Aksel Baddie, distracted and dazzeled some of the dearest sweethearts here once again!
I don't really trust in such measurements, I'm not a natural scientist and never want to be one, who's convinced, that all things have to be analyzed or are meant to be to explained. I belong to the other fraction, who are not convinced of the human-as-a-machine-model! ;p) I always have to smile a bit about it, because it looks like a little plaything for grown-ups. That is it what natural scientists (have to) do - it's a typical pattern -, otherwise they have nothing to live and to believe for. ;p) I think, it's much better to listen to your body and it's movements, you'll understand, what you and your body are doing and feeling and how you can improve that cooperation and coordination with material and surrounding conditions, that's a complicated unexplainable holistic interplay of forces you never can scale. ;p) But I think most *men are made for ordinary scaling* :p))
