Cuche wins

Posted on 28. November 2009 22:07 - 17 comments

Cuche continues showing the rest of us that he’s had a very good preparation for this season. He was the fastest in the first training and today he kicked ass again. I was doing pretty good myself until I made a big mistake after around a minute of skiing. Was only 0.30 seconds on that split, but than messed up the run. But looking at it from the bright side, it’s better to be faster and make mistakes than just being slow… And my leg  seemed to hold up good even though it was pretty bumpy today and I attacked 100%. So ready for the Super-G tomorrow. Also thinking about TJ who had a bad crash. Hope he's not to bad injured and we'll see him back on the tour soon.

And when you win you're very popular. Didier signing autographs at tonights bib draw. I got number 20 for tomorrows Super-G.

@ Aksel You are right - two times: 1) Cuche the old stager and others win & are popular, what engage their attention. 2) It's better to be fast, give 100% and make a mistake, than show a cautious race. Nothing more to say about that.

Well, today it works out better: Points for Aksel! (Also Jansrud!) Not bad. It would seem, that Aksel comes back again, step by step... and one of these days he'll be the best ever! haha Who would agree?

@Longstockings What about my virt. made alter ego? Not at work at the moment I guess, not drunken enough... what next my dear?

@Aksel: what thoughts cross your mind when you're standing at the start, focused and ready to race down the track and you know that the previous racer crashed and got badly injured?

@ Angi: Oh, please keep me updated! :) I`m traveling right now - and not able to watch the race, unfortunately...!

Good luck today, Aksel! I'll be watching!

Can't stop thinking about TJ. I hope he's feeling better today and that his injury isn't too bad.

@Sven: I fully agree with you. I had to mute the sound as I could not stand listening to Lanning screaming out in pain (and frustration). During his run I had actually been thinking about how many times he's already come back from an injury and kept wondering how he could possibly do this time after time. And then he crashed again. It was so horrible to watch. Poor guy. I hope he's gonna be able to make a full recovery.

Really excited about the Swiss guys, though, of course. Cuche more than deserves these victories (better late than never, I guess) after all he's been through during those past years.

And as for Aksel's run...I guess, it is better to be fast and make mistakes than to be just slow... :) Keeping my fingers crossed for today's Super-G.

Cuche is the man right now! Nobody skies as compact and precise as him - for the moment. I just love Cuche performing his art - hope it lasts for another couple of years.
What's a bit "worrying" is that behind Cuche another Swiss is coming along real strong - Carlo Janka. He doesn't ski spectacular, everything he does seems "ordinary" - but man, is he fast! The WC over the next couple of years will lead over C. Janka. He came out of nowhere last year and it seems he is here to stay.

The crash of TJ was horrible, seeing him crying after the crash was just not bearable for me. I had to switch channels. On moments like that I ask myself why we are going through with all this. The racers, as well as the viewers.
Reminded me of the Lanzinger crash 2 years ago. I hope he'll be fine soon.

Cheers

Like I said, Professor Cuche;-)

No idea how to manage my time during the season, spent whole evening yesterday watching skiing, loving the downhill (but poor TJ, I hope he gets well soon!), no time for private chatroom and cheerleading here (with the pom-pons!)

Can't wait for Super-G today, my favourite discipline of all. Good luck!

@ Aksel det er så synd (ikke 'skårer')! But such a mistake can happen - even not to be avoided sometimes . Well, you really surprised me with your run! Toll zu sehen, wie du wieder angegreifen kannst! Ja, das nenne ich echten 'Kampfgeist' :) und dazu noch sooo viel Fahrgefühl, bis dann...! But, thinking about TJ, you can be happy, that you came down safe and sound.

Hej, tomorrow SG will work out like you want it to go out! That's for sure!
No other thought could be more important (by now) ;). Just keep your mind sharp and positive! Keep up the good work!

It`s good to hear that you are not to disappointed over todays race! I don`t think it was bad at all considering your injury these past week. We all make mistaces, and like you said: " It?s better to be faster and make mistakes than just being slow?". Best of luck for tomorrow! I`ll be cheering for you!

Great to see you back again! Looked like you were getting back on track, despite of the mistake and result. Please be careful and patient, still many races to come.

Good luck tomorrow!!!

Best wishes to TJ and congrats to Cuche!

considering the lack of intense training and preparation on snow in the past few weeks i think you did a good job today. fortunately your leg appears to be functional again and doesn't influence your skiing negatively. Cuche is in a class of his own and i think he'll remain that strong through out the season - simply perfect, congratulations.
hope TJ will recover soon and the injuries are not as terrific as they seem to be - all the best to him.

all the best to you for tomorrow's race.
