Norway and Sweden. Good neighbors!

Posted on 20. February 2010 23:27 - 141 comments

There has been this ongoing smear campaign between Norway in Sweden in the media on both sides of the border. It’s mostly biathlon and cross country teams that are involved, and the media uses it for all it’s worth. I think it’s the dumbest thing ever! And here is a little note on how it works between the two nations in Alpine Skiing: I won the gold yesterday, but Patrik Järbyn from Sweden had a terrible crash. Badly smashed up and with a heavy concussion he called us from the hospital bed to congratulate us on the gold. Now that’s how good neighbors treat each other! Thank you Patrik! Wish you a good recovery and I will be seeing you soon.[...]

The Moment

I know I have said this before, but I have to say it again. The moment when you have crossed the finish line and you see your name on the top of the list is bigger, better and stronger than anything else. I just got home from medal ceremony, interviews and celebration, and they’re all great. But the feeling I still feel now that I’m in bed trying to sleep is that feeling you have those ten seconds when you’re all by yourself knowing you did a great run and your leading the race. Unreal! Don’t think I’m gonna get much sleep…[...]

Today I was watching, tomorrow its race-time!

Big day for Norway at the Games today. 2x golds and a silver in biathlon. Canadian and Americans don’t seem to be big biathlon fans, ‘cause it wasn’t broadcasted on any station. But we managed to stream it over the internet and with a projector we could all watch the Svendsen and Bjørndalen take home double for Norway. The women’s Super-Combined was also a great race to watch. Excited about Julia’s second medal and very impressed that Anja Pearson could come back after her crazy crash yesterday and get a medal. Now it’s early to bed and wake up tomorrow with that Olympic spirit I need to give 100% in the battle for the medals.

Women's DH and Norway's first Gold

Some Super-G training today, cause that’s gonna be the next event. Not combined like we all thought, but they’re gonna run the Super-G on Friday and then the Combined on Sunday. That means the Giant-Slalom is pushed to Tuesday. I only think from day to day what's happening. So I know right now its all about Super-G. The big favorite Lindsey Vonn won the women’s downhill ahead of my big favorite Julia Mancuso. Nice Julia!! Also very happy to see Marit Bjørgen take the today. I told you after her bronze, in my eyes the best cross-country skier on the women's tour.
