A great day!

Finally going to bed after a great and long day. Tomorrow is a new day of racing, so no time for late night celebrating. But first things first: Silver medal at Olympics in the downhill. I’m very happy with silver, and not once have I thought about the 7 hundreds of a sec that I was behind the gold. I felt so good at the start today. It’s like I could use that extra energy you get from being nervous to ski faster. I’m sure going to the opening ceremony and really taking in the whole Olympic experience is paying off. I’m enjoying this. Not only the racing, but the whole atmosphere around Whistler. Another important preparation was video analyzes. Since this is a new hill we’ve used lots of time on that to be sure exactly what’s the fastest line. Also picking skis was kinda hard on this strange spring snow, but my ski techs from Atomic did an excellent job. Thanks to everyone helping me to achieve my goals and to all of you for the kind words. Good night…

@angyal: As far as I know the SC is scheduled for Friday, the Super-G is moved to Sunday and the GS to Tuesday. And since the postponing worked out so amazingly for the downhill race, I am not gonna complain... ;-)

@rabbit Well, the middle part was a bit bumpy, I guess. Aksel was so relaxed and he made the greatest run with such a lot of ski- and snowfeeling :)) I have not seen of him for quite some time (think last time it was mid december!?).

Today is the combi and there's the slalom...! Freu mich sehr drauf! :) Hope there's not too much snowfall in the evening...

@Andie: thanks for the link, unfortunately it's not working outside Switzerland. I do not get those limitations when it comes to the ceremonies, as even my own TV, in my country, does not have them and when they appear it says they are unavailable in this territory! Maybe they work only for those countries who have a medalist during the ceremony, I do not know LOL I will have to live with pics though, but thanks for the linik anyway!;-)

I have to ask. I was watching the race live and got really nervous/surprised when youre skis started moving all over the place in the middle of the race. Even my non-skiing-girlfriend noticed the, for you, atypical motion.
Normally youre skis are running smoother than the competition.

Then you came to the last mellantid and had gained 7/10 of a second on Bode!

Was the movement of the skis due to:
a/ you letting the skis run?
b/ the perfect line was very uneven?
c/ the edges on your skis was a bit too grabby?

We have a bet running on the answer to this query. I dont expect an answer, but Im hoping for one. ;)

@Switzerland: yes, I saw everything! (apart from the medal ceremony as I had to sleep, unfortunately, and now I don;t know where to find the vid of it in the internet). The "flowers" too, they are kind of funny!!! I already liked the race when the first skier started downhill and I saw how many turns there are on the slope, I had a good feeling about Vikingish skiing right away! all in all, it was a very cool race, basically with fair conditions, nice weather, it looked really nice!

It's a great start of the olympics for Aksel, I am happy for him, it must be a great feeling! And I really agree it is awesome when one can turn all the nerves into positive energy for the race, it's not easy, but it's usually the best way to go, I practice that all the time and it really really helps! I guess it must be very exciting to be in the starting gate thinking: yeah, it's an olympic downhill, man!!!

Will keep my fingers crossed today too. I am thinking, who's the current world champion in the super-combined? LOL
